A709 Gr.50W Steel Description

A709 Gr50W low-alloy high-strength weather-resistant steel under the ASTM standards. The equivalent grade of ASTM A709 Grade 50W is EN10155: S355K2G1W, NFA 35-502: E 36 WB 4, A709-50W steel plate has high corrosion resistance, high weather resistance, High strength, high toughness, fatigue resistance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, welding and easy processing and other high-quality properties. A709 Gr50W is generally used in steel structures such as highways and bridges that are exposed to the atmosphere for a long time. Compared with ordinary carbon steel, weathering steel can produce a dense rust layer on the surface of the steel plate to prevent further internal corrosion. The grade of A709 Gr50W indicates: "A": Indicates the implementation of American Standard ASTM weathering board; "50": Indicates the grade in American Standard ASTM A709; "W": Indicates atmospheric corrosion resistance.

In order to improve the ductility of the A709 Gr50W weather-resistant plate, it is allowed to use a cooling method that is faster than cooling in air, but the steel plate needs to be tempered, and the tempering temperature range is 1100~1300 (595~705℃) , and indicated in the material list. A709 Gr50W weathering steel has good welding performance and atmospheric corrosion resistance, and is often used in bridge structures, large steel structures, and buildings or containers under harsh weather conditions such as stations and railway projects.
