ASTM A131 Grade A steel Description

ASTM A131 Grade A marine grade steel plates belong to general strength hull structural steel. The minimum yield point of ASTM A131 grade A plate is 34 ksi [235 Mpa]. ASTM A131 Grade A shipbuilding steel plates are mostly used in the manufacture of ocean transport ships, fishing boats, ocean development, rescue ships, icebreakers, research ships, container ships, liquefied petroleum gas ships, cruise ships, offshore oil production platforms, platform pipe joints and other structural parts.

A131 Grade A Shipbuilding and Offshore Platform Steel Plate/Coil is steel for general strength hull structure, which is divided into four grades: A, B, D, and E. The yield strength (not less than 235N/mm^2) and tensile strength of these four grades of steel are (400～520N /mm^2). The thickness of Grade A hull steel plate and wide-band steel of 5mm or above exceeds the maximum allowable negative thickness tolerance of 0.3mm. The tolerance must not be lower than -0.3, and the average value of the six points must not be lower than the tolerance thickness.
