Welcome to BBN Steel Materials Factory
Weathering steel is one of the commonly used materials for making containers, with good weathering and processing properties. Commonly used weathering steel grades include Corten A, Q450NQR1 and SPA-H. Each type of weathering steel has slightly different characteristics and uses, and needs to be selected based on actual needs.
I. Characteristics of weathering steel
Weathering steel has good weathering resistance, that is, it has good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere, seawater, steam and other chemical media, and has a long safe service life. The weather resistance of this steel is mainly manifested in preventing the oxidation of steel. In addition, weathering steel has good processing and welding properties and can also be used in high-temperature areas.
II. Commonly used weathering steel grades
1. Corten A(astm A242,astm A588)
Corten A steel is a high-strength, low-alloy steel with good weather resistance and strong corrosion resistance. Its chemical composition mainly includes copper, chromium, nickel, molybdenum and other elements, and a small amount of phosphorus, sulfur and other elements are added. Without the addition of other components, its strength is relatively low, with a tensile strength of about 480-630MPa and a yield strength of about 345MPa.
2. Q450NQR1(GB/T 4171-2008)
Q450NQR1 is a high-strength, low-alloy weathering steel as specified by Chinese standards. Its chemical composition mainly includes chromium, nickel, copper and other elements, which have good corrosion resistance and weather resistance. Its strength is relatively high, and its tensile strength and yield strength are about 550MPa and 450MPa respectively.
3. SPA-H(JIS G3125-2004)
SPA-H steel is a Japanese steel standard that belongs to the category of weathering steel. Its chemical composition mainly includes iron, steel, chromium, copper and other elements, which has good corrosion resistance and good cold working performance. The strength of SPA-H is relatively high, with a tensile strength of about 490-610MPa and a yield strength of about 355MPa.
The above are some common types of weathering steel commonly used in containers. When selecting materials, it is necessary to choose suitable weather-resistant steel materials according to actual needs to ensure the safety, quality, and service life of the container.
