Q245R Steel Description

The yield strength value of Q245R boiler and pressure vessel steel is 245MPa, Grade Q245R under GBT713 standard, "Q" represents the yield point of the steel, and the following number 245 represents the yield point value, the unit is MPa; for different uses, temperatures, and corrosion resistance, The material of the container board that should be selected is also not the same. Q245R steel has better resistance to wet H2S stress corrosion than Q345R due to its lower carbon equivalent. Q245R pressure vessel steel is usually delivered in hot-rolled, controlled-rolled, and normalized states, and can be inspected according to customer needs.

Q245R pressure vessel steel is mainly used for pressure vessel applications. Due to its special composition, Q245R pressure vessel steel has sufficient strength and resistance, excellent welding properties and hot and cold processing properties. Q245R can be used to make steel for pressure vessels of petrochemical, gas separation and gas storage and transportation equipment. Q245R steel is equivalent to ASTM standards A435, A577, A578.

With the increase of carbon content in GBT713 Q245R boiler and pressure vessel steel, the plasticity of the steel decreases, the hardening tendency of the steel increases, and cracks are prone to occur. Generally, the Q245R steel plate contains a variety of alloying elements, which together have a comprehensive impact on the mechanical properties of the steel. Therefore, carbon equivalent is a key indicator for calculating the performance of steel welds. Usually the steel plate with Ceq<0.45% has good welding performance.
