S45C Round Bar Description

S45C Round Steel is a Japanese standard JIS high-quality carbon structural steel, with "C" representing carbon and "45" representing carbon content in S45C. Due to the content of S45C ranging from 0.42 to 0.48%, it means around 0.45%. The S45C round bar contains less sulfur, phosphorus, and non-metallic inclusions than carbon structural steel, and has better mechanical properties. The sulfur and phosphorus content of high-quality carbon structural steel is less than 0.035%, mainly used to manufacture important components. In engineering, it is generally used to produce steel wires, steel strands, anchors for prestressed concrete, as well as high-strength bolts and important structural steel castings.

JIS S45C Round Bar has good processing performance, weldability, and good mechanical properties, and is usually used to manufacture mechanical parts, bearings, gears, and other parts that require strength and toughness. If high hardness and wear resistance are required for parts, quenching and surface quenching can be used to improve surface hardness.

Heat treatment specifications and delivery status of S45C carbon steel round bar:
Softening treatment specification: Temperature: 740-760 ℃, holding time: 4-6 hours, cooling rate: 50-100 ℃/h, with the furnace dropping to a temperature of ≤ 600 ℃, air cooling after discharge, hardness before treatment ≤ 197HBS, and hardness after treatment ≤ 156HBS.
Normalization treatment specification: Normalization temperature 850-870 ℃, hardness 170-217HBS after normalization.
Quenching treatment specifications: Quenching temperature 840 ± 10 ℃, water/oil cooled quenching; Tempering temperature of 600 ± 10 ℃, air-cooled after discharge.
Delivery status: Delivered in heat treated (normalized, annealed, or high-temperature tempered) or non heat treated condition, and the delivery status should be specified in the contract.
