Carbon and Low-alloy Steel

Carbon steel is the abbreviation of ordinary carbon structural steel. The carbon content of low carbon steel is generally less than 0.25%. Its strength is low, but its plasticity and toughness are relatively good. The carbon content of medium carbon steel is generally 0.3% to 0.6%, which has high strength, but poor plasticity and toughness. The carbon content of high-carbon steel is generally greater than 0.6%. It has high strength and hardness, but poor plasticity and toughness. Low alloy steel refers to alloy steel with less than 5% total alloy elements. Low alloy steel is relative to carbon steel. On the basis of carbon steel, in order to improve the performance of steel, one or several alloying elements are intentionally added to steel.
