A516 Gr60 pressure vessel steel Description

A516 Grade 60 Steel is a low-alloy high-strength structural steel plate. SA516Gr60 steel plate complies with ASTM standards and is also called SA516Gr60. A516Gr60 is a carbon steel plate for medium and low-temperature pressure vessels. It is widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, power stations, boilers and other industries to make reactors. , heat exchangers, separators, spherical tanks, gas tanks, liquefied gas tanks, nuclear reactor pressure shells, boiler drums, liquefied petroleum gas bottles, high-pressure water pipes of hydropower stations, water turbine volutes and other equipment and components.

ASTM A516 Gr.60 pressure vessel steel plate is a nickel-free low-temperature steel material recommended in ASTM specifications, with a service temperature of -18C~-60C. The chemical composition of ASTM A516 Gr60 steel mainly includes iron, carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur and other elements. Among them, the carbon content is between 0.22% and 0.28%, the silicon content is below 0.40%, the manganese content is below 1.00%, the phosphorus content is below 0.04%, and the sulfur content is below 0.05%. The thickness range of A516Gr60 steel plate is 6-205mm. A516Gr60 steel plates with a thickness of ≤40mm are usually supplied in a rolled state. A516Gr60 steel plates with a thickness greater than 40mm should be normalized.

ASTM A516 Gr60 boiler and pressure vessel steel has good mechanical and physical properties. At normal temperature, its tensile strength can reach 800 to 1100 MPa, its yield strength is not less than 60,000 pounds per square inch (414 Newtons per square millimeter), and its elongation is above 22%. At high temperatures, the strength and elongation of ASTM A516 Gr60 will decrease. However, it still maintains good oxidation resistance and creep resistance, making it suitable for long-term use in high temperature environments. ASTM A516 Gr60 steel has excellent comprehensive properties and is therefore widely used in bridges, ships, pressure vessels, oil and gas pipelines and other fields.
