30CrMo Alloy Steel Description

30CrMo alloy steel is a chromium-molybdenum alloy structural steel, and 30 refers to the carbon content. GB/T 3077 30CrMo alloy steel plate has excellent properties such as high strength, good corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, and is widely used in large and medium-sized electric motors, locomotives, petrochemical and other industries to manufacture parts with certain strength and high toughness. 30CrMo alloy steel has high strength, toughness and high hardenability. Its critical hardenability diameter in oil is 15-70 mm. 30CrMo alloy steel also has good thermal strength, and has sufficient high-temperature strength below 500 °C. But its strength drops significantly at 550°C. When the alloying elements are in the lower limit, 30CrMo alloy steel has good weldability. However, when the alloying elements are close to the upper limit, the 30CrMo alloy steel has only moderate weldability, and it needs to be preheated to above 175°C before welding. 30CrMo alloy steel has good machinability and moderate plasticity during cold deformation. 30CrMo alloy steel has the first type of temper brittleness in the range of 300-350 °C during heat treatment, and white spots are easy to form.

30CrMo alloy structural steel is usually used in quenched and tempered state. When the carbon content of the steel is at the lower limit, 30CrMo alloy steel can also be used as a central high-strength carburizing steel. Used in high-pressure and high-temperature environments, such as turbine blades, fasteners, high-pressure piping, engine parts, etc. It is also widely used in the manufacture of components for vehicles, ships and aircraft, as well as construction and oil and gas industry components. In the chemical industry, 30CrMo alloy steel is used to manufacture weldments, plates and pipes, and welded structures.

GB/T 3077 30CrMo alloy steel plate has the characteristics of high strength, good comprehensive mechanical properties, good heat treatment process performance, good low temperature impact toughness, and low notch sensitivity. 30CrMo alloy steel plate is available in various forms including sheet, strip, plate, bar, pipe, tubing, etc. Its thermal processing temperature range is 900-1150°C. The annealing temperature range is 800-900°C.
