Corten A Steel Description

Corten-A is a high weather-resistant and corrosion-resistant sheet, and is also named Corten A high-tensile steel.

Corten-A weathering steel is atmospheric corrosion-resistant steel. It has corrosion-resistant properties. It is a low-alloy steel series between ordinary steel and stainless steel. Weathering steel is made of ordinary carbon steel with a small amount of corrosion-resistant elements such as copper and nickel added. High-quality steel has the characteristics of toughness, plasticity, forming, welding and cutting, abrasion, high temperature, fatigue resistance, etc.; the weather resistance is 2~8 times that of ordinary carbon steel, and the coating property is 1.5~10 times that of ordinary carbon steel. At the same time, it has the characteristics of rust resistance, corrosion resistance and longevity of components, thinning and consumption reduction, labor saving and energy saving.

Corten A Weathering Resistant steel is mainly used in railways, vehicles, bridges, towers and other steel structures exposed to the atmosphere for a long time. It is used to manufacture structural parts such as containers, railway vehicles, oil derricks, seaport buildings, oil production platforms and containers containing hydrogen sulfide corrosive medium in chemical and petroleum equipment.

According to different types and uses, Corten weather-resistant steel can be divided into four types: Corten A, Corten B, Corten C, Corten B-QT. The weathering and corrosion resistance of Corten A is five to eight times better than that of ordinary steel, while that of Corten B is four times higher.

Corten-A Weathering Corrosion-Resistant Steel has good workability and can perform heat treatment and gas cutting with the same strength as ordinary steel. Corten-a steel has high strength and good corrosion resistance, so it has good wear resistance in corrosive environment.
