A588GrC H-beam is a type of American standard weathering steel, which belongs to high-strength low-alloy steel and has good atmospheric corrosion resistance. It can be used for various weather-resistant building structural components, especially those used in industrial atmospheric environments, as well as bridge auxiliary structural components.
Carbon (C): The carbon content of A285Gr.C H-beam can reach up to 0.28%. The right amount of carbon helps to improve the strength of steel, but too high a carbon content can adversely affect toughness and welding performance.
Manganese (Mn): The manganese content is generally between 0.85 and 1.20%. Manganese can improve the strength and toughness of steel, and can form manganese sulfide with sulfur, reducing the thermal brittleness caused by sulfur.
Silicon (Si): The silicon content is usually in the range of 0.15-0.40%. Silicon mainly plays a role in deoxidation during steelmaking, and also helps to enhance the strength and hardness of steel.
Phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S): These two elements are harmful impurities in steel. In this type of steel, the phosphorus content is generally limited to below 0.035%, and the sulfur content is limited to below 0.040%. Phosphorus can cause cold brittleness in steel, while sulfur can cause hot brittleness.
Tensile strength: The tensile strength range of A285Gr.C H-beam is 450-585MPa. This characteristic enables H-shaped steel to provide sufficient resistance when subjected to tensile loads, making it suitable for constructing structures that require high tensile forces.
Yield strength: its yield strength is not less than 275MPa. Yield strength is the stress at which a material begins to undergo significant plastic deformation. Sufficient yield strength ensures that H-shaped steel will not deform excessively when subjected to certain pressures, which is crucial for maintaining the stability of the structure.
Elongation: generally not less than 22% (gauge length is 50mm). A high elongation rate indicates that the material has good plastic deformation ability. Under complex stress conditions, H-shaped steel can undergo a certain degree of deformation without breaking, which is important for the reliability of the structure.
Pressure vessel manufacturing: due to A285Gr C H steel meets the standards for pressure vessel steel and can be used to manufacture the frame structure of medium and low pressure pressure vessels, such as small storage tanks and reaction vessel support structures in the petrochemical industry.
Building structure support: In the construction industry, it can be used as a supporting component for building frames, such as beams and columns in industrial plants, warehouses, and other buildings. Its high strength and good stability can withstand the self-weight and external loads of buildings, while resisting deformation to a certain extent.
Bridge engineering: used for the supporting parts of the upper and lower structures of bridges, such as the supporting beams of bridge decks and the lateral supports of bridge piers.
