What is A283Gr.A steel

The chemical composition of A283 Grade A carbon steel plate includes carbon (C), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and copper (Cu), with a maximum carbon content of 0.14%, a maximum manganese content of 0.90%, a maximum silicon content of 0.40%, a maximum phosphorus content and a maximum sulfur content of 0.035%, and a minimum copper content of 0.24%.

Tensile properties of A283 Grade A carbon steel plate

The tensile property requirements for ASTM A283 Grade A carbon steel plate include tensile strength and yield strength. The required range of tensile strength is 45-60ksi (310-415MPa), the yield point of A283GrA steel plate is ≧230 MPa, and the elongation after fracture is ≧20%.

The ASTM A283 Gr.A carbon steel plate adheres to the ASTM A283/A283M-03 and ASME standards, which are equivalent to SA283GrA and the Chinese Q235A material, and does not require impact testing.
