42CrMo alloy steel is an ultra-high-strength steel that is widely used in the manufacture of components that require a certain degree of strength and toughness, such as large plastic molds, large gears for locomotive traction, supercharger transmission gears, pressure vessel gears, etc. 42CrMo steel can be supplied in the form of wire rod, forgings, plate and round bar, suitable for different industrial applications and manufacturing needs.
The heat treatment process of 42CrMo alloy high-strength steel mainly includes:
Annealing: 760±10℃ annealing, furnace cooling to 400℃ air cooling, hardness after annealing HB220-230.
Normalizing: Normalizing at 860±10℃, air cooling after coming out of the oven.
Quenching and tempering (quenching + tempering): quenching (water or oil) at 840±10°C, tempering at 680-700°C to obtain hardness HB<217.
There are also a variety of quenching and tempering treatment options, such as quenching at 840±10°C and then tempering at different temperatures to obtain steel with different hardness levels, such as HRC41-45, HRC35-45, etc.
Chemical composition of 42CrMo alloy steel:
Carbon (C): 0.38~0.45% Silicon (Si): 0.17~0.37% Manganese (Mn): 0.50~0.80% Sulfur (S): ≤0.035% Phosphorus (P): ≤0.035% Chromium (Cr): 0.90~1.20% Nickel (Ni): ≤0.30% Copper (Cu): ≤0.30% Molybdenum (Mo): 0.15~0.25%
Performance characteristics of 42CrMo alloy steel:
1. 42CrMo alloy steel has high strength and toughness.
2. Good hardenability and low temperature impact toughness.
3. No obvious temper brittleness.
4. Suitable for manufacturing large plastic molds and mechanical parts that require high strength and toughness.
42CrMo alloy high-strength steel is widely used in:
1. Manufacturing large and medium-sized plastic molds.
2. Large gear for locomotive traction.
3. Supercharger transmission gear.
4. Pressure vessel gear.
5. Rear axle, extremely loaded connecting rods and spring clamps.
6. Drill pipe joints and fishing tools for deep oil wells below 2000m.
7. Bending machine molds, etc.
