Welcome to BBN Steel Materials Factory
MONEL 400 (N04400) steel is a single-phase, solid solution nickel-copper alloy (approximately 67% nickel and approximately 30% copper). MONEL 400 nickel-based alloy has excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and good durability. Processability and superior corrosion resistance in temperatures ranging from subzero to 800°F.
The chemical composition of Monel400 alloy mainly includes:
Nickel (Ni): 63% - 70%
Copper (Cu): 28% - 34%
Iron (Fe): ≤ 2.5%
Silicon (Si): ≤ 0.5%
Manganese (Mn): ≤ 1.5%
Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.024%
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.03%
Processing and surface treatment of Monel400 Monel alloy
Monel400 alloy can be processed and treated in the following ways:
Cold working: Alloys have good plasticity during cold working and can be processed into products of different shapes through cold rolling, cold drawing and other processes.
Heat Treatment: Heat treatment is usually not required, solution treatment may be required after welding to restore the strength of the material.
Surface treatment: In order to improve the corrosion resistance of the surface, surface treatments such as electroplating and sandblasting are often performed.
MONEL 400 exhibits corrosion resistance to many reducing media. It is one of the few alloys that can be used in contact with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, hydrofluoric acid or their derivatives. In hydrofluoric acid, the alloy exhibits excellent corrosion resistance even at various concentrations below the boiling point. Alloy 400 is also resistant to many forms of sulfuric and hydrochloric acids under reducing conditions. The corrosion resistance in seawater is very superior.
In the chemical industry, Monel400 nickel-based alloy has excellent corrosion resistance and can resist the erosion of various acids, alkalis, salts and other chemical substances. Therefore, it has extremely high application value when manufacturing various chemical equipment and pipelines. At the same time, its excellent heat resistance also enables it to maintain stable performance in high-temperature environments. Therefore, Monel400 nickel-based alloy also plays an important role in high-temperature and high-pressure environments such as oil and natural gas.
In the aerospace field, Monel400 nickel-based alloy is widely used in manufacturing aircraft engine parts and aircraft structural parts due to its high strength and good toughness. It maintains stable performance under extreme temperature and pressure conditions, ensuring aircraft safety and reliability.
Monel400 nickel-based alloy is also widely used in electronics, medical, marine engineering and other fields. In the field of electronics, its excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance make it an ideal material for manufacturing electronic components. In the medical field, its biocompatibility and corrosion resistance make it a preferred material for manufacturing medical devices and implants. In the field of marine engineering, the seawater corrosion resistance of Monel400 nickel-based alloy makes it a key material for manufacturing marine equipment and structures.
