SS540 Steel Description

SS540 carbon structural steel belongs to JIS G3101 standard, which is equivalent to China standard Q420B. SS540 structural grade steel has good tensile and yield strengths. SS540 carbon structural steel is used for structural parts such as buildings, ships, bridges, vehicles, etc. SS540 is also widely used as mechanical parts without high performance requirements. The equivalent grades of SS540 carbon steel plate are DIN 17102 STE 380, NFA 36201 E 375R, MNC 810E SS21, CSA G40-21 400 W, WT, ASTM A572 Grade 60 and 65.

JIS G3101 SS540 carbon and low alloy steel is the most common carbon structural steel with high tensile strength above 540 Mpa and minimum yield strength above 400 Mpa. JIS G3101 SS490 material Seed steel is available for extra heavy duty steel plates with high quality steel plates up to a maximum thickness of 600 mm. Other additional technical requirements for carbon steel plate JIS G3101 can be ultrasonic inspection, heat treatment, HIC, SSCC, NACE rolling standard, low temperature impact test, etc.
