16Mo3 pressure vessel steel Description

16Mo3 boiler steel is a carbon steel plate for European standard pressure vessels, which is a high-performance alloy material. 16Mo3 steel under the EN10028 standard, used to make boilers or pressure vessels, the corresponding domestic grade is 12Cr1MoV. 16Mo3 boiler and pressure vessel steel plate has good heat resistance and corrosion resistance. 16Mo3 steel plate materials can be used in the manufacture of heat exchangers, reaction vessels, pressure-bearing heads, and pipe fittings.

The main chemical components of 16Mo3 boiler and pressure vessel steel are carbon (C), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), molybdenum (Mo), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and chromium (Cr). Among them, carbon is the main element of steel, which affects the mechanical properties of steel. The role of manganese is to increase the strength and toughness of steel. The role of silicon is to increase the hardness and strength of steel. The role of molybdenum is to improve the tensile strength and oxidation resistance of steel. The role of phosphorus and sulfur is to improve the processing performance and cutting performance of steel. The role of chromium is to improve the corrosion resistance and heat resistance of steel.

The chemical composition of 16Mo3 steel makes it commonly used in the manufacture of equipment such as pipes, vessels and boilers under high temperature and pressure. These devices need to have high strength, high corrosion resistance and stability at high temperature. The chemical composition of 16Mo3 meets these requirements, making it an ideal material for these devices.

The naming of 16Mo3 pressure vessel steel is based on the carbon and molybdenum content in the steel plate, with a carbon content of around 160 and a molybdenum content of around 300. From this, it can be seen that 16Mo3 steel plate has high strength and resistance. When the molybdenum content in the steel plate is less than 5%, the patience of the weld metal is relatively high. If the molybdenum content is greater than 3%, it becomes brittle in the later stage, which can highlight the heat and corrosion resistance characteristics of 16Mo3 steel plate.
