P460NL1 Pressure Vessel Steel EN10028-3

P460NL1 Pressure Vessel Steel EN10028-3

P460NL1 steel plate is a pressure vessel steel with high strength, high toughness and excellent welding performance, which complies with the European standard EN10028-3. P460NL1 is a normalized weldable fine grain steel, which is understood as a steel with a ferrite grain size of grade 6 or finer after testing according to the EURONORM103 standard. P460NL1 pressure vessel steel plate is a special alloy steel for pressure equipment, with good plasticity, resistance, cold bending and welding capabilities. Its corresponding Chinese trademark is 17MnMiVNbDR

P460NL1 pressure vessel steel plate has various specifications and can be customized according to specific needs. Common specifications include steel plates with different thicknesses (such as 8-100mm or 0-250mm), widths (such as 1600-4020mm), and lengths (such as 6000-17500mm) to meet the needs of different application scenarios.

Characteristics and Performance

Material: P460NL1 is a fine grain steel designed specifically for welding, with good weldability and corrosion resistance.

Strength: It has high strength, with a yield strength of not less than 460MPa and a tensile strength ranging from 570-720MPa. The yield strength and tensile strength will vary depending on the thickness of the steel plate.

Toughness: It can maintain good mechanical properties under low temperature conditions, and the impact toughness at -40°C should not be less than 27J.

Chemical composition: mainly containing carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and other elements as well as specific alloying elements such as chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni) and molybdenum (Mo). Among them, the content of carbon is relatively high, which can reach about 0.20%, but the content of each element is limited to a certain extent, such as silicon Si≤0.60%, manganese Mn≤1.70% (some data also indicate that the content range of Mn is 1.10-1.70%), phosphorus P≤0.025%, sulfur S≤0.015%, etc.
In addition, it may also contain other alloying elements such as aluminum (Al), nitrogen (N), copper (Cu), niobium (Nb), titanium (Ti), and vanadium (V).

Application Fields

P460NL1 steel plate is widely used in many industries due to its excellent performance:

Oil and gas industry: used for manufacturing storage tanks, pipelines, reactors and other equipment.

Chemical industry: used for manufacturing reactors, heat exchangers, separators and other equipment.

Power station and boiler industry: used for manufacturing boiler drums, pressure vessels and other components.

In the field of architecture, it is also applied in the construction of large public buildings such as high-rise buildings, sports venues, and convention centers.

Other fields: such as bridges, ships, automobiles, etc., P460NL1 steel plates are also often used to manufacture structural parts and components.

Manufacturing Process and Delivery Status

Manufacturing process: The production process of P460NL1 steel plate includes initial melting, LF refining, VD treatment, continuous casting (die casting), cleaning, heating, rolling, surface inspection, batching, flaw detection, heat treatment, cutting and sampling, performance testing, and warehousing. Through multi-pass rolling and heat treatment processes, the steel plate has the required thickness and performance.

Delivery status: EN10028-2 P460NL1 pressure vessel steel plates are usually delivered in the normalized state. According to the negotiation between the supplier and the demander, normalizing rolling can also be used instead of normalizing, and simulated normalizing should be conducted according to the agreed test frequency to verify the performance.
